History
Our beginning
In 1900, one of Utah’s first canal systems had just been installed in Northern Utah. Businessman John Y. Ferry traveled to Utah from Illinois during that time. He immediately saw the investment potential in the newly irrigated land and started putting his business knowledge to work, buying and developing plots of land and selling them to farmers. John saw the value of the land and began buying parcels for his own family. This was the beginning of JY Ferry and Son, Inc.
Today, diversification is the key to keeping the family business going. JY Ferry focuses on raising a healthy cow/calf herd and operating a cattle feed yard. We also plant and harvest nutrient-rich crops like corn, alfalfa and wheat, as well as manage a thriving wildlife population and private duck clubs.
We are always striving to improve our farming and cattle management techniques.
JY Ferry is the recipient of many different awards. Most recently we were awarded Intermountain West Joint Venture 2017 Private Landowner Conservation Champion Award.
